Background of mitochondrial ribosomal protein L4
Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins are encoded by nuclear genes and help in protein synthesis within the mitochondrion. Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit. They have an estimated 75% protein to rRNA composition compared to prokaryotic ribosomes, where this ratio is reversed. Another difference between mammalian mitoribosomes and prokaryotic ribosomes is that the latter contain a 5S rRNA. Among different species, the proteins comprising the mitoribosome differ greatly in sequence, and sometimes in biochemical properties, which prevents easy recognition by sequence homology. This gene encodes a 39S subunit protein. Sequence analysis identified alternatively spliced variants that encode different protein isoforms.

5 Customer Q&As for Anti-MRPL4 Antibody
Question
Would anti-MRPL4 antibody A14430 work on pig WB with colon carcinoma?
Verified Customer
Verified customer
Asked: 2020-02-26
Answer
Our lab technicians have not validated anti-MRPL4 antibody A14430 on pig. You can run a BLAST between pig and the immunogen sequence of anti-MRPL4 antibody A14430 to see if they may cross-react. If the sequence homology is close, then you can perform a pilot test. Keep in mind that since we have not validated pig samples, this use of the antibody is not covered by our guarantee. However we have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in pig colon carcinoma in WB, you can get your next antibody for free.

Question
We are currently using anti-MRPL4 antibody A14430 for human tissue, and we are happy with the WB results. The species of reactivity given in the datasheet says human, mouse. Is it likely that the antibody can work on monkey tissues as well?
D. Collins
Verified customer
Asked: 2016-09-29
Answer
The anti-MRPL4 antibody (A14430) has not been tested for cross reactivity specifically with monkey tissues, but there is a good chance of cross reactivity. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in monkey you can get your next antibody for free. Please contact me if I can help you with anything.
