Background of GABA-B R1
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) B receptor, 1 (GABAB1), is a G-protein coupled receptor subunit encoded by the GABBR1 gene. This gene encodes a receptor for gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is the main inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian central nervous system. This receptor functions as a heterodimer with GABA (B) receptor 2. Defects in this gene may underlie brain disorders such as schizophrenia and epilepsy. Alternative splicing generates multiple transcript variants, but the full-length nature of some of these variants has not been determined.

Electrophoresis was performed on a 5-20% SDS-PAGE gel at 70V (Stacking gel) / 90V (Resolving gel) for 2-3 hours. The sample well of each lane was loaded with 30 ug of sample under reducing conditions.
Lane 1: rat brain tissue lysates,
Lane 2: mouse brain tissue lysates.
After electrophoresis, proteins were transferred to a nitrocellulose membrane at 150 mA for 50-90 minutes. Blocked the membrane with 5% non-fat milk/TBS for 1.5 hour at RT. The membrane was incubated with rabbit anti-GABBR1 antigen affinity purified polyclonal antibody (Catalog # A07297-1) at 0.5 μg/mL overnight at 4°C, then washed with TBS-0.1%Tween 3 times with 5 minutes each and probed with a goat anti-rabbit IgG-HRP secondary antibody at a dilution of 1:5000 for 1.5 hour at RT. The signal is developed using an Enhanced Chemiluminescent detection (ECL) kit (Catalog # EK1002) with Tanon 5200 system. A specific band was detected for GABBR1 at approximately 108 kDa. The expected band size for GABBR1 is at 108,130 kDa.

We are currently using anti-GABA B Receptor 1/GABBR1 antibody A07297-1 for rat tissue, and we are satisfied with the WB results. The species of reactivity given in the datasheet says human, mouse, rat. Is it true that the antibody can work on feline tissues as well?

The anti-GABA B Receptor 1/GABBR1 antibody (A07297-1) has not been tested for cross reactivity specifically with feline tissues, but there is a good chance of cross reactivity.
