Background of GRASP1

GRASP (GRP1-associated scaffold protein, tamalin) is a 395 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene GRASP . GRASP is a scaffold protein that com-prises multiple protein-interacting domains, including a 95 kDa postsynaptic density protein (PSD-95)/discs-large/ZO-1 (PDZ) domain, a leucine-zipper region and a carboxyl-terminal PDZ-binding motif. GRASP is involved with intracellular trafficking and contributes to the macromolecular organization of group 1 metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) at synapses. GRASP forms a heteromer composed of GRASP , PSCD2 and at least one mGluR-1. It also interacts with PSCD3, mGluR-2, mGluR-3 and mGluR-5. GRASP is highly expressed in brain and has lower levels of expression in lung, heart, embryo, kidney and ovary.

3 Customer Q&As for Anti-GRASP Gripap1 Antibody

Question

Would A13005-1 anti-GRASP antibody work on parafin embedded sections? If so, which fixation method do you recommend we use (PFA, paraformaldehyde, other)?

Verified Customer

Verified customer

Asked: 2020-05-05

Answer

You can see on the product datasheet, A13005-1 anti-GRASP antibody as been tested on WB. It is best to use PFA for fixation because it has better tissue penetration ability. PFA needs to be prepared fresh before use. Long term stored PFA turns into formalin, as the PFA molecules congregate and become formalin.

Question

We are currently using anti-GRASP antibody A13005-1 for rat tissue, and we are well pleased with the WB results. The species of reactivity given in the datasheet says human, mouse, rat. Is it likely that the antibody can work on horse tissues as well?

Verified Customer

Asked: 2017-07-11

Answer

The anti-GRASP antibody (A13005-1) has not been tested for cross reactivity specifically with horse tissues, though there is a good chance of cross reactivity. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in horse you can get your next antibody for free. Please contact me if I can help you with anything.
