Golgi reassembly-stacking protein 1 (Gorasp1)

Plays an essential role in gathering and membrane stacking of the Golgi cisternae, and at the reassembly of Golgi stacks after breakdown during mitosis (PubMed:9346242, PubMed:12839990, PubMed:23940043). Key structural protein required for the maintenance of the Golgi apparatus integrity: its caspase- mediated cleavage is required for fragmentation of the Golgi through apoptosis (PubMed:11815631, PubMed:12015985).

Also mediates, through its interaction with GOLGA2/GM130, the docking of transport vesicles with the Golgi membranes (By similarity). Mediates ER stress-induced unconventional (ER/Golgi-independent) trafficking of core-glycosylated CFTR to cell membrane (By similarity).
