Background of SRC

Sarcoma (Scr) is a proto-oncogenic tyrosine kinase originally discovered by J. Michael Bishop and Harold E. Varmus. belongs to a family of non-receptor tyrosine kinases called Src family kinases. The human SRC protooncogene was assigned to chromosome 20. Its gene is mapped to 20q12-q13. The discovery of Src family proteins has been instrumental to the modern understanding of cancer as a disease where normally healthy cellular signalling has gone awry. This proto-oncogene may play a role in the regulation of embryonic development and cell growth.

Antibody Validation

Boster validates all antibodies on WB, IHC, ICC, Immunofluorescence, and ELISA with known positive control and negative samples to ensure specificity and high affinity, including thorough antibody incubations.

Asked: 2020-01-29

Answer

The anti-Src antibody (PB9059) has not been tested for cross reactivity specifically with bovine tissues, but there is a good chance of cross reactivity. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in bovine you can get your next antibody for free. Please contact me if I can help you with anything.

Asked: 2019-09-20

Answer

From literature fundus of stomach does express SRC. From Uniprot.org, SRC is expressed in fundus of stomach, lung skin, platelet, cervix carcinoma, leukemic t-cell, erythroleukemia, liver, among other tissues. Regarding which tissues have SRC expression, here are a few articles citing expression in various tissues:
Cervix carcinoma, Pubmed ID: 18691976
Erythroleukemia, Pubmed ID: 23186163
Leukemic T-cell, Pubmed ID: 19690332
Liver, Pubmed ID: 24275569
Lung, and Skin, Pubmed ID: 15489334
Platelet, Pubmed ID: 18088087

Question

We have tried in the past anti-Src antibody for IHC on platelet a few years ago. I am using human, and We want to use the antibody for WB next. I am interested in examining platelet as well as leukemic t-cell in our next experiment. Could you please give me some suggestion on which antibody would work the best for WB?

Asked: 2017-10-02

Answer

I have checked the website and datasheets of our anti-Src antibody and it appears that PB9059 has been validated on human in both IHC and WB. Thus PB9059 should work for your application. Our Boster satisfaction guarantee will cover this product for WB in human even if the specific tissue type has not been validated. We do have a comprehensive range of products for WB detection and you can check out our website bosterbio.com to find out more information about them.
