Background of ME3
Malic enzyme catalyzes the oxidative decarboxylation of malate to pyruvate using either NAD+ or NADP+ as a cofactor. Mammalian tissues contain 3 distinct isoforms of malic enzyme: a cytosolic NADP(+)-dependent isoform, a mitochondrial NADP(+)-dependent isoform, and a mitochondrial NAD(+)-dependent isoform. This gene encodes a mitochondrial NADP(+)-dependent isoform. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene, but the biological validity of some variants has not been determined.

3 Customer Q&As for Anti-ME3 Antibody
Question
Does anti-ME3 antibody A05164 work on feline WB with brain?
Verified Customer
Verified customer
Asked: 2020-04-27
Answer
Our lab technicians have not tested anti-ME3 antibody A05164 on feline. You can run a BLAST between feline and the immunogen sequence of anti-ME3 antibody A05164 to see if they may cross-react. If the sequence homology is close, then you can perform a pilot test. Keep in mind that since we have not validated feline samples, this use of the antibody is not covered by our guarantee. However we have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in feline brain in WB, you can get your next antibody for free.

Question
We are currently using anti-ME3 antibody A05164 for human tissue, and we are well pleased with the WB results. The species of reactivity given in the datasheet says human, mouse. Is it possible that the antibody can work on horse tissues as well?

Answer
The anti-ME3 antibody (A05164) has not been validated for cross reactivity specifically with horse tissues, but there is a good chance of cross reactivity. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in horse you can get your next antibody for free. Please contact me if I can help you with anything.
