Facts about Stimulated by retinoic acid gene 8 protein.
During spermatogenesis, next to its function in meiotic initiation, promotes (but is not required for) spermatogonial differentiation. Can associate with DNA (maybe in an indirect manner), and in vitro can trigger DNA transcription.

Expressed exclusively in premeiotic germ cells in both sexes. In females, is expressed in the embryonic ovary. In males, is expressed in pubertal and adult testes, in premeiotic spermatogenic cells. Expressed by some type A and B spermatogonia, preleptotene spermatocytes, and early leptotene spermatocytes (at protein level). Expression begins in late undifferntiated spermatogonia and persists during in differentiating spermatogonia (at protein level).
Sta8 refers to meiosis. But what does that mean? How does it apply in biology? Learn more about this meiosis inducer. This article will explain the molecular biology behind Sta8 and how it is used. It will hopefully help you decide if this gene is right for you.
The Sta8 genes are part of a large family of genes that regulate meiosis. They are expressed in many cell types. In humans, Sta8 is expressed in meiotic cells to promote adipose tissue formation. This gene has been implicated in a variety of cancers, including leukemia and colorectal cancer.
STRA8 can be described as a single nucleotide pattern in the human genome. It has been used in molecular Biology since the 1970s to locate homologous regions. It is also used for identifying variants. Its popularity in molecular Biology has increased over the years due to its importance in legal, forensic and other matters. Its flanking areas, which serve as primers to PCR, are invariant among populations.
Although Stra8 plays an important role in the development of germ cell, it is not clear what its exact role is in spermatogenesis. This research will provide the theoretical base for further research. Further studies will examine the regulatory network as well as the functional mechanism of this gene. These findings will enable us to better understand how STRA8 impacts sperm growth. To understand its exact role, further studies will be needed.
To genotype tail genetic material, PCR amplification is used. The primer Stra8-P1 was used for genotyping. A second primer, called Stra8-P2, was used to detect the variant. The PCR was performed in a gradient-separated agarose gel with 1.2% agarose. A single sample of each genotype was analyzed to determine the genetic association between two samples.
The STRA8 genes is frequently expressed in tumors. It is used to determine the function and growth of other organs. Cancer cells can also be susceptible to melanoma as well as leukemia. The STRA8 marker in molecular biology is a useful tool to analyze the structure of the human genome. This gene plays an important part in tumor progression, and can be used to identify the cancer cells.
STRA8 is a meiotic gene that has been studied in many animal systems. STRA8 has been shown to be involved in meiosis. This is the process which initiates the meiotic process within XX germ cells. Mutant mice lacking STRA8 are not able to undergo premeiotic gene replication, which plays a critical role in the meiosis process.
Although there is not much evidence supporting STRA8's involvement in meiosis (direct evidence), the STRA8 marker may play an important role in spermatogonial developmental. STRA8 has been shown to be highly induced in spermatogonial development of mice. However, its exact function remains unknown. Researchers performed RNA-sequencing experiments on wild-type and STRA8 knockout mice.
In addition to its role in meiosis, STRA8 has been found to regulate DNA methylation and histone acetylation, as well as regulate GC gene expression. These results indicate that DAZL, STRA8 and DAZL could regulate pluripotency of human embryonic stem cells. Although the mechanisms remain under investigation, the STRA8 indicator has already shown promising results in animal studies. While research into STRA8’s potential role in meiosis will continue, it is an important tool to possess.
While STRA8 has already been implicated in meiotic progression and entry, it is not completely clear how it functions. Mice lacking STRA8 in a congenic background are less likely to initiate meiosis. Mixed genetic backgrounds also show 80% tubules that contain preleptotene, spermatocytes. However very few cells advance beyond this stage. The findings in mice indicate that STRA8 is involved in regulating meiosis through a direct action.
