Facts about Centromere protein N.
CENPN is the first protein to bind specifically to CENPA nucleosomes and the direct binding of CENPA nucleosomes by CENPN is necessary for centromere assembly. Required for chromosome congression and efficiently align the chromosomes on a metaphase plate.
