The P2X7 receptor modulates immune cells infiltration, ectonucleotidases expression and extracellular ATP levels in the tumor microenvironment

Authors: De Marchi, E., Orioli, E., Pegoraro, A., Sangaletti, S., Portararo, P...
Journal: Oncogene

In the tumor microenvironment (TME) ATP and its receptor P2X7 exert a pivotal influence on cancer growth and tumor–host interactions. Here we analyzed the different effect of P2X7 genetic deficiency versus its antagonism on response against P2X7...

Toll-like receptor 2 and Toll-like receptor 4 exhibit distinct regulation of cancer cell stemness mediated by cell death-induced high-mobility group box 1

Authors: Chen, X., Cheng, F., Liu, Y., Zhang, L., Song, L., Cai, X., You, T...
Journal: EBioMedicine

Background: High-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1), a common extracellular damage associated molecular pattern molecule, is overexpressed in several solid tumors including pancreatic carcinoma. We previously observed that radiotherapy...

5-(3,4-Difluorophenyl)-3-(6-methylpyridin-3-yl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole (DDO-7263), a novel Nrf2 activator targeting brain tissue, protects against MPTP-induced subacute Parkinson's disease in mice by inhibiting the NLRP3 inflammasome and protects PC12 cells against oxidative stress

Authors: Xu, L.L., Wu, Y.F., Yan, F., Li, C.C., Dai, Z., You, Q.D., Jiang, Z.Y., & Di…
Journal: Free Radical Biology and Medicine

Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common aging-related neurodegenerative disease worldwide. Oxidative stress and neuroinflammation are critical events in the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in PD. In this study, we found that DDO-7263, a...

IGFBP5 suppresses oleate‐induced intramyocellular lipids deposition and enhances insulin signaling

Authors: Xiang, A., Chu, G., Zhu, Y., Ma, G., Yang, G., & Sun, S.
Journal: Journal of Cellular Physiology

Excess intramyocellular lipids are often accompanied by muscle insulin resistance (IR) and type 2 diabetes. The mechanism of the formation of intramyocellular lipids is unclear yet. In this study, we optimized the cellular model of intramyocellular lipids from...

VSIG4 mediates transcriptional inhibition of Nlrp3 and Il-1β in macrophages

Authors: Huang, X., Feng, Z, Jiang, Y., Li, J., Xiang, Q., Guo, S., Yang, C., Fei, L...
Journal: Science Advances

Hyperactivation of the NLRP3 inflammasome contributes to the pathogenesis of multiple diseases, but the mechanisms underlying transcriptional regulation of Nlrp3 remain elusive. We demonstrate here that macrophages lacking V-set and...

TBL1XR1 promotes migration and invasion in osteosarcoma cells and is negatively regulated by miR-186-5p

Authors: Cao, Q., Wang, Z., Wang, Y., Liu, F., Dong, Y., Zhang, W., Wang, L...
Journal: American Journal of Cancer Research

TBL1XR1 has been reported to play promoting roles in various malignances, yet little is known about its role in osteosarcoma, and the up-stream molecules regulating TBL1XR1 are also unclear. In the present study, we investigated the clinical...

FGL2 promotes tumor progression in the CNS by suppressing CD103+ dendritic cell differentiation

Authors: Yan, J., Zhao, Q., Gabrusiewicz, K., Kong, L.Y., Xia, X., Wang, J...
Journal: Nature Communications

Few studies implicate immunoregulatory gene expression in tumor cells in arbitrating brain tumor progression. Here we show that fibrinogen-like protein 2 (FGL2) is highly expressed in glioma stem cells and primary glioblastoma (GBM) cells. FGL2 knockout...
