Background of KRT5 & KRT8
This monoclonal antibody reacts with keratin 5 (58kDa) and keratin 8 (52.5kDa). Simple epithelia express cytokeratin 8 in combination with 18. On the other hand, basal cells of stratified epithelia express cytokeratin 5 paired with 14. This antibody therefore, reacts with a wide range of epithelia and their carcinomas.
Antibody Validation
Boster validates all antibodies on WB, IHC, ICC, Immunofluorescence, and ELISA with known positive control and negative samples to ensure specificity and high affinity, including thorough antibody incubations.

2 Customer Q&As for Anti-Cytokeratin 5/8 KRT5 Monoclonal Antibody
Question
We are currently using anti-Cytokeratin 5/8 Monoclonal antibody M00398 for rat tissue, and we are happy with the IHC results. The species of reactivity given in the datasheet says bovine, canine, hamster, human, mouse, pig, rat. Is it true that the antibody can work on zebrafish tissues as well?

Answer
The anti-Cytokeratin 5/8 Monoclonal antibody (M00398) has not been validated for cross reactivity specifically with zebrafish tissues, but there is a good chance of cross reactivity. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in zebrafish you can get your next antibody for free. Please contact me if I can help you with anything.

Asked: 2020-01-02
Answer
From what I have seen in literature ectocervix does express KRT5. From what I have seen in Uniprot.org, KRT5 is expressed in ectocervix, brain pancreas, lymphoblast, liver, among other tissues. Regarding which tissues have KRT5 expression, here are a few articles citing expression in various tissues:
Brain, and Pancreas, Pubmed ID: 15489334
Liver, Pubmed ID: 24275569
Lymphoblast, Pubmed ID: 14654843
