The CSNK2B protein encodes a three-subunit protein: the alpha prime, the beta-prime, and the omega proline-rich (Sph). It regulates signal transduction, transcription, and translation. It is located in the Golgi apparatus and the endoplasmic retina. The CSNK2B genome has two types, alpha or beta-prime.

Applications

The CSNK2B gene is involved in the splicing of transcripts. Mutations in CSNK2B alter the splicing process for a transcript which is 320 bp-long in the wild but is 465 bp-long in the mutant. The abnormally-sized transcript was transcribed with RTPCR, resulting a frameshift (premature stop codon) and a transcribing error.

TNFAIP1 regulates NF-kB pathways and is significantly downregulated by HCC. Overexpression of TNFAIP1 results in angiogenesis and inhibition of HCC cell proliferation. On the other hand, knockdown produces the opposite effect. Immunohistochemistry and cell counting kit-8 were used to study the effects of TNFAIP1 upon CSNK2B expression within HCC cells. TUNEL can be used to determine the impact of TNFAIP1 in HCC cells.
